The Crawfish Mambo is an annual fundraiser held by the University of New Orleans Alumni Association. It’s a community-wide festival that celebrates two favorite Louisiana traditions: crawfish and music. It has grown into New Orleans’ Largest Crawfish Cook-Off. The Mambo is in its eighth year now and features all-you-can-eat boiled crawfish all day plus the best local, live music. (Other food is available for purchase as well.)

What Are The Origins Of The Crawfish Mambo?
The Crawfish Mambo Cook-off and Music Festival on the Lake started in 2012. It’s the brainchild of Brian Glorioso, 2011-2012 President of the University of New Orleans International Alumni Association.
In launching the event, Glorioso’s goal was to create an event that would achieve two of the Alumni Association’s priority goals–to build positive PR and relationships for the University and raise the funds needed to support professional development programs for UNO students like Dine Like a Professional Senior Etiquette Luncheon, resume review workshops, networking events, mentorships and scholarships.
The success of the inaugural event (despite that day’s torrential rainstorm) wowed everyone, and Mambo is now the Association’s primary fundraiser. But equally important is attracting new and old friends to campus. So, while Mambo is hosted by the UNO Alumni Association, the festival is for everyone.
Why Are We Sponsoring This Years’ Crawfish Mambo?
The team at BIOS Technology is all about supporting our community. And we’re proud to be a sponsor of the Crawfish Mambo. The funds they raise support the success of students at the University of New Orleans (UNO).
The University continues to provide high-quality and affordable education. However, years of dramatic state budget cuts have had serious impacts and, like other schools nation-wide, the importance of outside support has increased exponentially.
Increasing tuition levels means that job placement after graduation is more important to current and prospective students than ever before. Our investment in the Crawfish Mambo enables UNO to expand, create and enhance career preparation programs to help the University recruit, retain, and graduate local students who are prepared for today’s competitive job market.
Funds raised from the Crawfish Mambo support programs to prepare our region’s future workforce (our future employees) through professional development initiatives such as dining and social etiquette luncheons, resume review workshops and networking events.
The majority of UNO students come from our region, and the great majority of alumni stay and work here. They ultimately become the region’s professional, educational, political, civic, scientific, and cultural leaders. Helping to give them the skills they need now will help employers get the skilled workers they need later.
