Are You Prepared to Keep Operating Your Business?
Tropical Storm Sally has been ramping up – promoting hurricane warnings from Grand Isle, LA to Ocean Springs, Miss. and Metropolitan New Orleans. The National Weather Service expressed the following in a statement yesterday…
“Life-threatening storm surge is possible along the Gulf Coast beginning on Monday, and a storm surge watch is in effect for areas outside the southeast Louisiana Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System from the Mouth of the Mississippi River to the Alabama/Florida border.”
“Sally is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h), and a west-northwestward or northwestward motion is expected through Monday,” the National Hurricane Center explained.
Throughout history, we’ve seen tropical storms and hurricanes destroy homes, livelihoods, and businesses. Unfortunately, there are major risks to businesses, especially those that aren’t prepared. If your office is hit, you’re at risk for:
Your revenue takes a serious hit because you can’t work as productively for a few days to a few weeks while you wait for the damage to be fixed. Even worse, if your data isn’t backed up, you may never be able to recover the information you need. Ultimately, it’s many, many years of hard work – gone.
There’s still time to make preparations that will save your business in the long-run. Here are a few recommendations:
Review your property
First, take a look at your property and how well it’s prepared to protect what’s stored within it. Take some time to:
Check your data backups

Review your business insurance policies
Lastly, make sure your business insurance policies are clear and cover exactly what’s necessary. You should have a thorough understanding of what’s covered, and if you don’t, contact your provider to ask ahead of time.
